Our Words, Our Worlds, Our Wisdom

Welcome to the BIPOC Community of Leaders in Reflective Practice! We invite you to join in a journey of transforming the landscape of infant and early childhood mental health in King County, Washington.

The BIPOC Community of Leaders in Reflective Practice (BIPOC CoL) aims to address the racial and ethnic disparities in access to equity-centered and culturally- and linguistically-responsive reflective practice for BIPOC providers in infant and early childhood mental health in King County, Washington. Despite the growing recognition that the prenatal-to-5 period is a crucially formative time for children's social and emotional development, racial and ethnic inequities persist. Demographic mismatches between providers and families and between providers and reflective consultants, implicit bias in provider decision-making, and systemic barriers to professionalization all contribute to inequities.

By focusing on building and strengthening reflective capacities of BIPOC providers and supervisors, the BIPOC CoL is increasing the reach and availability of reflective practice in King County.
